Archie Cochrane Exhibition
Which Scottish doctor truly revolutionised the practice of medicine over the last 60 years? Archie Cochrane’s colourful career is chronicled for the first time in an exhibition in his home town – Galashiels.
Born into an affluent Borders mill-owning family, he served as a medical student on the Republican side in the Spanish Civil War. His later work in South Wales laid the foundations for evidence-based medicine. The Cochrane Collaboration established in his memory now operates on every continent.
“Body, Heart and Mind: The Remarkable Life and Legacy of Archie Cochrane MBE” opens on July 12 at the Old Gala House, Scott Crescent, Galashiels and runs until October 31.
