I was led up the shiny corridor to my shiny ward. My eyes were dazzled. Why did hospitals have to be so shiny and clean? I lay down on my hospital bed and closed my eyes. . . .
I sat up and looked around me. Something seemed different but I wasn’t sure what. I climbed out of bed and found myself standing in a puddle of water.
“NURSE!” I screamed “My room’s flooded!”
Nurse ran in
“Your room’s been flooded all week! The big flood remember?”
“What where am I? What’s the date?” I said.
“30th of the 9th 2068”
“WHAT?!”
“You go back to bed, you’ll feel better later.”
“No! What’s the big flood and why is it happening now?” I shouted
“Go back to bed” said the nurse.
“I won’t until I know!” I replied stubbornly.
“Okay, fine then. The glaciers melted and the world is flooding,” she said.
“But that’s not meant to happen for millions of years!”
“Exactly, people relaxed when they heard that and they stopped recycling.”
“But . . . but. . . .”
I sat up in bed.
“It was just a dream.” I sighed
“What was a dream?” gurgled Fiona the nurse.
